The invention of the scalp cooling machine that can prevent hair loss during essential chemotherapy, is a small but worthwhile contribution to treatment and recovery. These machines are a wonderful resource but an expensive one!Under the leadership of Lion Geoff Boyton and his colleagues at the Newcastle Lions Club, together with the fundraising of many local Lions Clubs, Save Sight NSW/ACT Foundation and the Australian Lions Foundation, Lions presented a cheque for over $61,000 to provide this resource to the communities of the Hunter recieving treatment at Calvary Mater Newcastle to supply this machine!
It’s a wonderful example of what can be achieved when the Lions network comes together to make a difference in their community.
