Australian Lions Foundation

YOUR FOUNDATION

Over the past weeks, we have seen many areas of our country impacted by bushfires and of course the drought still at the forefront for many. When you have both drought and bushfire impacts in the same areas it is devastating for all concerned.

Thank you to the many clubs, individuals and organisations who have once again supported the Foundation and enabled us to provide assistance to those in need throughout our District network.

At the time of writing this brief note for our newsletter, the Foundation has assisted in providing $60,000 to District N1 for provision of water tanks for those that are off grid and not connected to town water in areas of the bushfire.

For District Q1 grants have been given to Tenterfield, Warwick and Casino for the provision of water to homes and schools totalling $55,000. These areas have literally run out of water or what is left is contaminated and undrinkable. This is just the beginning of our summer period so we are very hopeful we will not see a continuance of this need but the Foundation is here to assist.

Last weekend, the Board held its quarterly meeting and we were delighted to have the opportunity to meet Executive members of Clearview Wealth Limited. Clearview have just made 2 significant donations to the Foundation to support our Lions bushfire efforts and we had the opportunity to have a coffee with them when they dropped into the Board Meeting. This is a rare opportunity for the Foundation to meet and say thank you on behalf of Lions for an organisation’s support and to give them a briefing of how their donation was going to be put toward the provision of those tanks we have assisted in funding for District N1. Clearview Wealth Ltd have communicated through their wide network of clients how they have supported Lions and the Foundation and have encouraged them to do the same. A wonderful example of Lions and corporate working together.

As we head into summer and our Christmas period, may I thank all Clubs for their support in recent times. You have helped the Foundation – “your foundation” but more importantly made a difference to many people affected by disasters across our country. Please give a thought to all those in our communities near and far impacted in some way but realise, through your contributions, you have made a difference in helping them all.

Have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and we look forward to working with you all again in 2020.

Regards PID Tony Benbow Chairperson, ALF
