Cowra Breakout 75th Anniversary Project – Lions Club of Cowra (N4)
The panels have been a long-time project which come to fruition through the generous contributions, partly from council, from the Breakout Association Committee, Cowra Lions Club and very importantly, the Australian Lions Foundation.
As part of the commemorations for the 75th anniversary of the Cowra Breakout, a new installation piece has been unveiled at the Prisoner of War (POW) Camp.
The five steel sheets, each measuring 2×4 metres, depict those directly affected by the Breakout – an Australia guard, a Japanese POW, an Italian POW and an Indonesian mother and children – with the centre panel providing information about the artwork.
